Cedar Valley Rustics offers a complete line of rustic style furniture to compliment any room, porch, or patio. Each piece of furniture is designed and assembled to bring out the natural beauty and uniqueness of the cedar tree that it was made from. Because the natural curves of the wood are directly incorporated into its design, it becomes not only a piece of furniture but a piece of art.
By using three special production methods Cedar Valley Rustics is able to produce a sturdy, rugged, and yet beautiful piece of furniture. First, the hands- on nature of the production process allows its craftsmen to choose only the most prime pieces for use in the furniture. Second, Cedar Valley Rustics has perfected a unique tenoned jointing system that enables its furniture to stand the test of time. Finally, the furniture goes through a finishing process that includes three coats of poly acrylic as well as sanding before and between each coat. This allows the natural grain of the wood to be displayed under the smooth glassy finish, while giving the wood a protective coating as well. Furniture that is to be used outdoors uses the same process, but with Helmspar, an outdoor grade polyurethane with UV protectants.
Cedar Valley Rustics uses only high quality Eastern Red Cedar in its furniture, giving it three specific advantages over its White Cedar counterpart. The first, and most obvious, advantage lies in its distinct color patterns. The dark purple heart wood and knots make for lovely contrasting color patterns that will compliment any décor. Second, each piece of furniture has Red Cedar’s unique natural aroma. By leaving all unseen surfaces unfinished, these aromatic oils are allowed to escape throughout the lifespan of the furniture. Furthermore, this scent is unbearable to mice and moths, thus making it an excellent wood for dressers, chests and any storage piece.
Finally, Eastern Red Cedar is an extremely resistant to decay. So resistant in fact, that it is also used for fence posts here in the Shenandoah Valley. This quality allows Cedar Valley Rustic’s furniture to be used outdoors as well as in.
